DR. CARRIE BONE
A San Diego native, Dr. Bone graduated from the University of California at Davis with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She prioritizes keeping current with the latest theories and techniques in her field and particularly enjoys researching difficult and challenging cases. Dr. Bone shares her home in North County with her husband, her daughter, and her terrier-mutt named “Larry Bird.” Her time away from work is spent hanging out with her family, enjoying the San Diego waves, and trying to catch as many live music shows as possible.
DR. LIDJA GILLMEISTER
Growing up in Upstate New York, Dr. Gillmeister has wanted to be a veterinarian as long as she can remember. She graduated from University of Virginia and received her DVM from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. Gillmeister moved to San Diego in 2008 and completed rigorous training as a rotating small animal internal medicine, surgery and emergency intern at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital. Dr. Gillmeister’s special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and preventative care. Her goal is to help clients optimize the quality of their pet’s lives using current research and medical approaches. When not at the hospital, she enjoys backyard orchard culture, cooking, hiking and spending time with her family
DR. LAURA DOWD
Growing up in a Navy family Dr. Dowd was fortunate enough to have her father, a naval aviator, and mother navy nurse retire in San Diego. She attended her last two years of high school at Bonita Vista, attended undergraduate school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated in 1989 from UC Davis with her degree in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Dowd loves problem solving, preventative medicine, behavior, dermatology and soft tissue surgery and has been practicing in San Diego for over 20 years.
Her special interests included wildlife, landscape and sports photography and baking. As a long time endurance athlete, she combines her passion for sports and medicine as volunteers acting National Medical Director for Race Guards, a company that provides in-race First Aid/CPR for local and national endurance events. Joanne (Veterinary Assistant): Joanne has been in the veterinary field for over eight years. In her free time, she enjoys painting, hiking and spending time with her three children.
Kallie (Veterinary Assistant): Kallie graduated with a double major in Biology and Psychology from the University of Denver. In her free time, Kallie enjoys hiking, baking and cooking. Kallie has a lot of experience with animals ranging from childhood pets to interning at a wildlife rehabilitation and rescue centers.
Beata (Veterinary Assistant): Currently working on her bachelors in biology and animal science. Bea has worked with animals her whole life, starting on a farm and moving to our clinic. She one day hopes to be a Vet. For now, she spends her days studying, spending time with family, and hiking with her fur babies, Yondu and Nebula.
Kathleen (Assistant Practice Manager): Kat, a North Cal native, moved to San Diego to enjoy SoCal living. She graduated from CSU Sacramento with a Bachelors in Anthropology. Kat enjoys working out and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Lauren (Registered Veterinary Technician): Lauren graduated from San Diego Mesa College with an Associates in Science - Animal Health Technology. Lauren has been involved with animal care for several years and hopes to work with exotics in the future. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and going to the gym.
